Another look at the death of the West

Oriana Fallaci is going to be on trial in France this June for putting in writing her thoughtful concern for Europe being overwhelmed by those who would make it "Eurabia," impose Sharia Law and make dhimmi of everyone who descended from those who built the eastern half of Western Civilization. Today's lesson in Europe is a precursor of things to come for America and Canada if we don't take off and destroy every pair of the rose-colored "isn't multiculturalism wonderful" glasses so prevalent today that they may as well have been the "prizes" found in American childrens' cereal boxes from the mid-1960's onward.

Fallaci is right to be concerned. Because of imported Islamic influence, today's Europe appears unavoidably doomed. In the end, it will have taken barely more than a half-century for it to have fallen. In this, there's a lesson to be learned: unless America returns to a more prudent, restrictive and selective immigration policy, and soon, it will fall when Sharia comes-a-callin' faster than Europe. No, the threat of our being overwhelmed by increasingly bold and hostile Muslim enclaves is not great here yet, except for in a few concentrated places. But because of the left's having imposed its thought upon almost two full generations in our public schools and universities, rendering so many of our under-40 set blind to the reality that multiculturalism is actually culturally void, there will be even less resistance here until long after it is too late to save us. We've created for ourselves a huge bloc of misindoctrinated utopianists who are incapable of seeing diversity for what it really is: cultural suicide. Better we die under the thumb of dhimmitude than admit that the Americans who dreamed up and pursued the "city on a hill" ideal were right in so many of the things they chose to be intolerant about. They weren't out to create a "utopia." They were trying to set an example that others might learn from and, if culturally ready, follow.

In the minds of kids like Kate UF, it is better for the West to needlessly fall because George Washington and Thomas Jefferson owned slaves, so whatever else they might have accomplished, dreamed or envisioned could not possibly have come close to balancing the scales. Better your children not live in liberty as penance for trumped-up leftist insistence that the things upon which we built and perfected our form of sovereignty are all somehow evil.

Why do I fear we'll fall faster than the French? Because we're allowing our nation to be culturally-balkanized, multilingualized and increasingly inhabited by those descended from the third world - just ripe for the picking. We're not allowed, thanks to political correctness, to openly discuss the fact that the nations to our south that now send us their "huddled masses" do so because of consistently monumental failures. Yet they have had exactly the same opportunites and substantially greater resources than we have. The bottom line is that the southern half of the Western Hemisphere is marked by its glaring inability to string together, over time, enough great leaders to keep up with the first world as it became dominant. In short, they prove time and again to be less capable to grasp liberty than we are. Before the Hart-Cellar immigration debacle of 1965, most of our new blood came from Europe. Every single European region has had at least one significant period of great progress in modernity, so those who came here were at least familiar with the concept- if not genetically predisposed to it. Since 1965, we've brought so many, so fast and so predominately from lands and cultures that have never been weighed as "great," at least by modern scales, that we have dangerously diluted our pool of potential ingenuity. With Islam on the march, it is imperative that we rediscover and reconstruct our self-centered American cultural mind if we are ever to expect to stand up to throat-slitting-Islamic-hegemony when it comes for us. The only reason for not doing so is that political correctness deems it "intolerant" to thoughtfully place the best-interests of ourselves and our children first, before we provide accommodations for everyone on earth who "seeks a better life." I'll say it again: tolerance is dangerously over-rated.

A fully multicultural post-America will be too weak to put up a fight, and will probably feel guilty for even trying.

But perhaps pre-dhimmi-Europe in its last throes will offer up a way out of this potential inevitability. Looking at they way peoples historically behave in times of crisis, I expect that prior to the final anguish of Europeans, there will be a great return to Christian faith in their ranks. Once the folly of the things their secular dogma has wrought is clear, the choice will be to either submit to Islam or engage in another "great awakening" of Christianity. Since the latter option will be more familiar and comfortable than dhimmitude, that's where their minds will take them. And if this all comes to pass, there may come a time at which we will become smart enough to simply close America's doors to all but European imports, those who form our only true cultural family, when the time comes for them to flee Muslim domination. Their fresh horror stories, once widely understood, might be just the "juice" we'll need to stop the advance of the only religion that contains violent political edicts within its dogma. The rise of Eurabia will place a moment of important convergence upon us. When it happens, and I cannot imagine it not happening, the big question will be whether we'll be too balkanized to do what's best for the cultural West. Will there be enough of the American Kernel left for us to capitalize on what may well be the last opportunity for our Christian-based culture, for any Christian-based culture, to remain on this earth?

Perhaps. But only if our fate is not left in the hands of the multiculti-left.
