USA Today editorial makes sense...in one out of seven paragraphs...
...the rest are obvious race-card-playing tripe.
The only reasonable section of this whole Op-Ed consists almost entirely of quotes from another source: a most reasonable Supreme Court decision.
What a Hispanic justice would mean
Raul A. Reyes, a hackneyed, sad-sack member of USA TODAY's board of leftist contributors
The appointment of any Supreme Court Justice on the basis of "achieving racial balance" is a gift to the very forces that seek to further transform our cohesive nation into a gaggle of squabbling ethnicities. It's hard enough to swallow the globalist mystery-meat stew they're passing off as the melting pot these days. Heaven forbid we're ever forced to choke down the contents of cultural salad bowl made toxic by its diversity.
It is never "time" for there to be an Hispanic justice, a black justice, a white justice or a polka-dotted justice. If a true conservative is at the helm, it is only time for another originalist justice. I cannot imagine we'll soon, if ever, find a strict constructionist who also considers his or her membership in a minority to be any sort of self-defining trait.

"In Brignoni, the court held that 'apparent Mexican ancestry' alone did not constitute legitimate grounds for the Border Patrol to conduct an immigration check. Even so, the court said, 'the likelihood that any given person of Mexican ancestry is an alien is high enough to make Mexican appearance a relevant factor' in an immigration stop. In effect, the court declared a form of racial profiling constitutional."Profiling in today's America is not only reasonable, but necessary for our future. It will remain crucial to our survival as a culture, a society and a nation as long as politically-correct ethos-weevils like Reyes have an audience. If anyone actually believes that profiling is not at the heart of our security efforts, they don't know a lot about human nature. Yes, we're unnecessarily shaking down grannies from Peoria at airports. But it makes no sense to consider that we are not also paying keen attention to "Mohammed" when he registers for flight school or "Juan" when he opens a bank account with his Matricula Consular and a five-figure deposit.
